The act of trolling is part and parcel when it comes to video games. From corner-trapping people in multiplayer all the way to destroying peoples Minecraft creations. But sometimes, games take it upon themselves to deliberately troll players just because they can. Bring on the trolls!
5. Grand Theft Auto V - "Death at Sea" mission
How does hours and hours of collecting bits of scrap on the sea floor for minimum pay sound to you? Well, GTA V's dreaded "Death at Sea" mission is just that. And your prize for this mindnumbing work? Ten fucking dollars. If we had it our way, you'd be collecting the BODY PARTS of this jackass in GTA 6 and we'd give you a million dollars!
4. DmC: Devil May Cry - New do!
When the latest entry in the DMC series was first revealed, there was one thing in particular the hardcore fans took an immediate hatred towards. But it wasn't the changes to the gameplay, the Westernized style or the new story approach. No, it was Dante's hair. Yep, his hair. So what did Ninja Theory decide to do following the fanboy uproar? Ouch! That burned!
3. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - Raiden
Those were the words screamed at TVs by millions the world over. Twenty minutes in and one boss battle later, Solid Snake goes down with a sinking tanker only to be replaced by a new hero for the rest of the game. And everyone hated the silver-haired newbie from the get-go. He certainly made up for it in MGS 4 and Revengeance, though! Love or hate Raiden, Kojima got people good with this one.
2. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - STOP SCREWING WITH US!!!
There are many times where games have screwed with players heads. From Psycho Mantis reading your memory card to that damn reversed controls attack in Guitar Hero 3. Then there's Eternal Darkness, which is in a league of its own. It'll pretend to delete your save file, show no items in your inventory and even throw up a Blue Screen of Death. And that's just for starters! You'll need a real life sanity bar when this game starts fucking with you, for sure.
1. Batman: Arkham Asylum - Broken console
In one of the biggest scares in the history of video games that doesn't involve zombies or loud noises, Batman: Arkham Asylum preys on the thing that all gamers worry about: the death of your system. You heard the sounds, you saw the glitches, and you shit your pants. For those few heartpounding seconds when you think your system has died, you are right in the palm of the game's hand. Bravo, Scarecrow. Bravo.
