David Jacobs was an exciting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor, talented instructor and IBJJF certified referee, but most importantly a good friend. I will always remember his wisdom and his sense of humor. Some years ago I had the great fortune to be a guest at his home and his academy when he showed me this pass from the half guard. He actually had great success on the tournament circuit with this including a win over a red hot Mike Fowler at Grappler’s Quest with this. I also had a lot of success with this pass, and whenever I have taught this to my students I have always called this the Dave Jacobs pass. Dave will live forever as far as I’m concerned, and as a tribute to his legacy I’d like to share with you “the David Jacobs Pass”. Nothing would make me happier than to see other people use this technique and remember Dave.
