This book was written in 1933 but it is even more relevant today than it was back then with the fear-driven, risk-averse attitudes that pervade the birth space in the 21st century. It seems that we have almost gone backwards.
Grantly Dick Read was an obstetrician who dedicated his life to discovering why some women 'suffer" during birth and others seem to experience little or no discomfort. He describes his theory that if you can overcome fear, then tension will be eliminated and pain will be replaced with physical and mental relaxation. While this in itself sounds too simple, reading the book will give you such a deep insight into the physiology of fear (and its impact on the birthing body) that you will be forever changed. It is not an easy read, but it is worth the effort - especially if you have deep-seated fears that are holding you back from experiencing this life event in all it's power and glory.

Right now I am virtually supporting pregnant couples in 7 countries around the world from my home in South Africa!!
✅ I don't replace your visits with your Ob/Gyn or your midwife - I make sure that they count because you know what questions to ask.
✅ I don't physically perform the tests and scans but I make sure you get them on time and you know what to do with the results or if you need any further testing.
✅ I don't make you wait until you are 28 weeks to attend a birth class, every call is an opportunity for learning and preparing and we start early.
I guide you to find the best resources wherever you are.
