Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the shock strap cam buckle tie down strap with shock absorber. This is going to be a nice strap to have the security on your cargo, especially things like ATVs, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, anything that's going to have a bit of . or have a suspension system. So there's a little bit of travel within the cargo itself and you're trying to attach that or secure that in your truck bed on a trailer or an enclosed trailer.
So this has a built-in shock absorber that's going to give you some extra tension as you're tightening this down. On the back, there's this safety strap. So this kind of has two purposes. One is to be a redundant strap. So if that polyurethane shock absorber should ever fail or the urethane based shock absorber ever fails, this is going to be a backup to that.It also helps you to prevent you from over tightening that shock.
So whenever it's fully tight, you should be able to just barely fit your hand in between the strap and the shock absorber, but you don't want to stretch it out so far that you can't still fit your hand in there. But should be taut on either end of our strap. We'll have these two S hooks, so these are going to keep the attachment point in place. It also has a keeper so that whenever we're attaching one side, it's not going to fall off as we're attaching the other, so that helps to keep that in place and also prevent it from moving around as we're traveling down the road. It has a nice coating on the end of that to help prevent any kind of scratches or scuffs from that strap.
There's also a built-in a strap sort of as an attachment point, so if you don't want to use that hook directly, you can wrap around something like a frame or a grill on your ATV and then use that to attach into the strap. That also helps if you're attaching to something that's a little bit bigger than maybe this hook can't fit around, so it gives you some options there. It does kind of hang around all the time and it can be a little bit annoying to have this extra piece of strap to deal with, but you can't always just tuck that up out of the way or hook it with the S hook at the end to keep that tidied up. Same thing on the other side. We're also going to have that strap keeper or that loop strap to go around and hook onto our accessory. It is a cam buckle style, so to tighten it down you have to just pull it through that cam buckle, so pretty easy to operate.
Sometimes people like to have the ratcheting mechanism just to make things a little bit faster as far as getting things tightened down and you get a little bit more tension on the strap itself. But cam buckles can work out just fine for you and then you'll want to make sure that you tie up your strap as you get everything nice and tight. The metal portion of our strap is going to be made out of a zinc or yellow zinc chromate coating on the steel, so should be weather resistant, shouldn't have to worry about hot or cold or wet weather. The strap is made out of a durable polyester webbing which is going to be UV resistant and also abrasion resistant and it can withstand water absorption, so should last in all weather situations whether you're somewhere rainy, snowy or really hot or really cold, shouldn't have any issues there. It is DOT approved. As far as the size, it is going to be a one inch wide strap that measures six feet long total. This safe working load limit for this strap is going to be 500 pounds with a max break strength of 1500 pounds. That 500 pounds, though, is going to be the number you want to go off of. You always want to work with the working load limit for your cargo, so you don't want to secure anything that's going to be more than that. It's also a good idea to use straps in pairs and this is available as a pair set. If you just use the same part number here at etrailer.com with a dash 2 at the end you'll get two of these straps in one. Has all the same features as as this one. It's just going to be two quantities instead of just one. So I would suggest picking up multiple of these so that you have to secure all of your cargo. It does have a two year warranty and it's DOT approved. And all in all I think this is going to be a nice system to use. That shock absorber is going to be, again, a really nice feature to help ensure that there's constant tension on your load, even if it happens to move around in transit. Especially for things like
