Councillor Scott Moffatt, Chair of the Standing Committee on Environmental Protection, Water and Waste Management, will hold a technical briefing about the second phase of the Solid Waste Master Plan on Thursday June 17 at 2 pm. Staff will provide an overview of the Phase 2 report, which includes the proposed vision statement, guiding principles and goals for the Solid Waste Master Plan, a 30-year plan that will guide how we manage solid waste, increase waste diversion and extend the life of the landfill. Staff will also provide an overview of the City’s future waste management needs, gaps, constraints and opportunities, along with a long list of options to support waste management and diversion for the next 30 years. The long list will be evaluated to create a shorter list of options for community and stakeholder engagement this fall.
