India has reported its first confirmed case of monkeypox, also known as mpox. The Union Health Ministry has stated that the individual carries a non-emergency variant of the virus. The infected individual is known to have travelled to India from a country currently experiencing mpox transmission. Laboratory testing confirmed the presence of the West African clad 2 mpox virus in the patient. The health ministry has described this as an isolated case, not part of the current public health emergency, which is clad 1 of mpox. #indiatoday #monkeypox #unionhealthministry #publichealthemergency
