A full moon and partial lunar eclipse will take place on the night of July 4.
Known as a Buck Moon eclipse, named in honor of July's full moon, it will be visible for most of North and South America, not to mention parts of Europe and Asia.
While a total eclipse can obscure the moon, this weekend will offer a penumbral eclipse, in which the moon will cross a small section of the earth’s shadow, known as the penumbra. As a result, the moon appears slightly darker than it usually does. - reports CNET
The Full Buck Moon – July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month's Moon was the Full Hay Moon.
