On February 8th, 2020, WSB consultants and Don Geyer, the commercial fisherman for the area, coordinated an under-ice netting and removal of carp. Although the carp were grouped up nicely for a good haul, the nets got repeatedly stuck on the lake bed. The snags were being caused by a Christmas tree weighted with cement blocks that had been sunk to the lake bottom. By the time the sun went down, the fishermen had no luck getting their nets through the water. While it's unfortunate that the seine wasn't successful, the PLSLWD plans to go after the carp once the ice comes off the lake and the obstructions on the lake bottom can be removed and/or better avoided.
