Subway rolls ruled too sugary to be bread in Eire ((the Republic of) Ireland). Subway was trying NOT to pay tax as bread in the Republic if Ireland has not VAT (Value Added Tax (Sales Tax)) on bread as it is a staple and this has been so since 1972 (CE). The court has said it has too much sugar in Subway rolls, so they have to pay tax. Could Subway be hit with any sort of backlash for being considered greedy? We will have to wait and see.
