Today is release day for Desires Profane – the debut full-length from Swedish second-wave black metal band Völva.

An album devoted to Satanic feminism and “the use of free will, body and lust as vessels to sin for a higher purpose”, this is ferociously intense grim orthodoxy, ravaged by crusty post-hardcore and atmospheric black metal, spiked with striking compositional details along its 10-track course.
