This rear bar bushing replacement video was made possible by Mevotech who was kind enough to provide the parts to perform this service. We installed the Supreme grade (over built for increased longevity). The repair procedure can be used on other Toyota vehicles such as the Camry, Solara, Sienna, ES300, ES330, Highlander and Venza to name a few.

Signs of worn rear stabilizer bar bushings can be rattling, knocking or clunking noise when riding over uneven road surfaces. With the rear wheels off, if the stabilizer bar can be easily pushed or pulled within the bushing, the bushings are worn and should be replaced. Unlike the front end, the rear end bushings wear faster than the stabilizer bar links. Worn rear struts, however, will not make noise.
This most difficult part of this bushing replacement is the removal of the two 12 mm bushing bracket bolts. If too much torque is applied when loosening them up, the bolt(s) might shear off. Saturate the bolts with penetrating oil, use a 1/4" ratchet to relieve the initial tension (a 3/8" ratchet creates enough torque to shear off a bolt) and work the bolt(s) off by loosening, tightening, loosening ... applying penetrating oil as you work it loose until there's no more tension.
