This video shows the absolutely devastating impact of a Black Butterfly Ammunition, .450 Bushmaster, 250
grain, Barnes TTSX, “HOG STOPPER” impacting gel in super slow motion with a high speed video camera. Following ballistic gel rifle protocols, this video was shot at a range 20 feet. The first ballistic gel block is a 10% gel density. The second is 20% gel density which acts as a back stop to capture the projectile. The test rifle used was an off the shelf base model Ruger American.
This video depicts a representation of what that impact would do on impact with soft tissue “vitals” areas like a whitetail deer chest cavity.
Due its lighter weight and it’s ability to completely expander at slower speeds of impact we recommend this round out to 200+ yards for big game animals including deer and hogs.
This projectile fully expands at impact creating a massive wound channel. The impact is shocking to say the least.
As you can see by the video, this projectile bores deep into the second 20% density block where most lighter weight rounds will stop.
According to Clear Ballistics, the FBI Block is perfect for terminal ballistics testing for all handguns and rifles where penetrations are less than 16 inches. The FBI Block meets FBI ballistics testing protocol 100%, and completely simulates the testing performed by the FBI. This block is the same size that the FBI and other law enforcement agencies use for terminal ballistics testing and data. Ballistic Gelatin FBI Block is sized for hunters, hobbyists, semi-professional, professional shooters, and all types of law enforcement agencies.
