The topic of this video is: How Can You Help Me Get The Right Doctors Into The Network?

Charlie: Before we look at signing up with a major vision insurance company, we want to talk about the provider network, the doctors. How do we make sure that we get as many of the best ones in the area? I have a big brick and mortar company in a certain location and I want to make sure my people who live within 25 miles have the best doctors. How can the vision insurance company help me with that?

Daniel: The best way would be to pull a list of the employees and run what's called a geo-access.

Charlie: Geo = geography?

Daniel: Yes. They're looking at how many providers are really in the area in relation to where the employees live. If there are spots that maybe the closest doctor is 10 miles away, maybe the insurance carrier can look to see if there are doctors closer to try to solicit those doctors.

Of course, they should always have an open line of communication with their client as well, the client should be able to refer a doctor.

Charlie: If I'm the Head of HR, I don't have to go out and get those other 12 doctors that are closer because my insurance company ought to be able to go out and add them into the plan. Is that right?

Daniel: Correct, yes. There should always be some type of ongoing process of just running those types of reports to see where there might be holes or gaps.
