North Korea has warned the US and its allies of the possibility of a "thermonuclear war" breaking out on the Korean peninsula. Pyongyang denounced the “Ulchi Freedom Shield” military exercises, jointly held between the US and South Korea in the neighbourhood. KCNA said the “unprecedented large-scale thermonuclear war is approaching the Korean Peninsula every moment as reality.” Pyongyang said the summit at Camp David on August 18, was aimed at formulating a "nuclear war provocation”, as per state media KCNA.
