The all new 2021 version of Mega Construx Pokemon Charizard Construction Set, Building Toys for Kids, GWY77 is one of my favorite building sets made with tons of play value. Lots of points of articulation make it so that it is more like an action figure than a building set. The best thing about this building set is that it actually really looks like a Charizard unlike a lot of the smaller pokemon featured in Mega Construx's product line. Another pleasant benefit is that these pieces are compatible with other building block brands such as LEGO and K'nex. Really cool looking at almost every angle.
Some of the flaws is that there are a ton of small pieces which are poorly organized so you will have to do some sifting. Some of the small pieces of layers that you have to put together are also extremely difficult to connect unless perfectly aligned and completely smushed. As an adult I find myself having to use all my finger strength so I am certain that some children may have difficulty on those parts. Another flaw is that the ball and socket create a poor connection on lparts such as the tail, wings and head. This is because the socket only secures the ball on 2 sides at any given moment and applying force on the "open" sides makes it really easy for the ball to slip out. Like most building block sets, you are left with about a dozen or so additional pieces which is nice, but also will confuse you into thinking that you may have skipped a step. Overall, for a retail price of $20.00, I think its a perfect gift for any pokemon fan. Afterall, who doesn't like Charizard??
