Matching the Joint in 5 Steps, a John Ball Lesson:
1. An inch or so of overlap is great for matching the joint.
2. The clean endgate shoe glides on top of the mat.
3. Endgate springs have good spacing in them.
4. The screed has good contact with the mat.
5. No lines behind in the mat means they’ve got good balance of the screed and extension.
