On The Urban Debate, with Tanvi Shukla, we discuss the Sedition Law. The Supreme court was hearing a plea file by two news channels from Andhra Pradesh, who filled a Writ petition challenging the actions by the Andhra Police to book them under the Sedition law. The channels were booked for airing offensive speeches of the MP. The channels went to the Supreme court for relief, and the court has restrained the police from any actions against the news channels. The court has also sent a notice to the Andhra Pradesh government. The Supreme court observed that the FIR's are an attempt to muzzle media's freedom.
