The Houston-based Inflight Training Center is now the largest of United’s seven training centers. The airline now expects to take delivery of about 700 new narrow and widebody aircraft by the end of 2032, including an average of more than two every week in 2023 and more than three every week in 2024. The Training Center is a 23-hour, 7-day operation, serving classes of up to 160 trainees per week, with over 640 trainees in the building each month. This investment is a 50 thousand square foot facility that includes additional simulators, and an aquatic center that features a 125-thousand-gallon pool to practice safe water landings. United’s direct employment in Houston contributed $1.2 billion to economic activity and its hub indirectly supports an additional 56 thousand local jobs through airport and supply chain activity.
