Be inspired by Ruzaika Omar Basaree’s 3D painting and Dungun Siri II in this gamelan-based parent-child workshop, and learn about the different types of gamelan played throughout the region—from the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, to Terengganu in the eastern coast of Malaysia where this painting was created. Drawing references from the intricate woodcarvings found in Dungun Siri II, this workshop will invite you and your family to create wonderful patterns of rhythms by using everyday household items such as pots, pans, whisks and ladles! Led by musician, educator, and composer Rosmainy Buang from the arts collective SKALA, the workshop will focus on the interlocking rhythms of Gamelan Beleganjur from Bali.
