Welcome to another episode of On The Road Special Edition hosted by Stevie Kim. Today she travels to Venice, Italy.
Since Venice has often been ranked as the most beautiful city in the world, Stevie could not resist a visit when she was invited to the Baccio Della Luna Prosecco 10th anniversary celebrations (by Schenk Winery) at the prestigious Hotel Danieli. She also spends some time on the tiny island of Burano.. a fishing community with little brightly colored houses...read on for the skinny...
More about Venice:
Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. The city was historically the capital of the Republic of Venice for over a millennium, from 697-1797. It was a major financial and maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Venice has been known as "La Dominante", "La Serenissima", "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Masks", "City of Bridges", "The Floating City", and "City of Canals". The lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Parts of Venice are renowned for the beauty of their settings, their architecture, and artwork. Venice is known for several important artistic movements—especially during the Renaissance period—and has played an important role in the history of instrumental and operatic music, and is the birthplace of Baroque composers Tomaso Albinoni and Antonio Vivaldi.
Burano, Venice
Burano is an island in the Northern Venetian Lagoon, 11 Km northeastern far from Murano and Venice (accessible by boat). All visitors of Burano remain intrigued by the many colors and the colorful houses, by the leaning bell tower, the local hospitality as well as the lovely crafts (especially the lace.) If you go to the island in search for a place to eat like a local, Burano is very famous for its fish dishes, the most famous of which is the "risotto de gò": the broth in which the rice is cooked and creamed, is extracted from the "gò" a fish typical of the Venice lagoon, known in English under the name of "goby". But don't stop there! there are so many different types of fresh fish and specialties to discover here!
Bacio della Luna Prosecco is a Prosecco by the Schenk winery, located in Vidor, the heart of the Prosecco Superiore Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG area. The Schenk Group acquired this winery and renamed it Bacio della Luna (Kiss of the Moon). The winery has contracted some of the most renowned grape growers to make sure their prosecco can be enjoyed all over the world!
About Schenk:
Schenk was founded in Switzerland in 1893. It was Arnold Schenk, son of founder Charles Schenk, who wanted to create a wine group that had that special European style. The winery is 145 years old but they have changed with the times, Schenk has maintained its commitment to producing quality wine by continuously investing in sustainable vineyards and state of the art technology for winemaking, bottling and storage.

About the Hotel Danieli:
This swanky hotel dominates the Venetian lagoon with spectacular views of the Grand Canal and islands. Also overlooking the Palazzo Ducale, the hotel is just steps away from Ponte Dei Sospiri and Piazza San Marco. The three palaces which comprise the hotel date from the 14th, 17th and 19th Centuries: Palazzo Dandolo in Venetian Gothic style, once home to the noble Dandolo family; Palazzo Casa Nuova, previously the city’s treasury; and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, featuring guestrooms with balconies overlooking the lagoon on its upper floors. The three palaces house a rich collection of precious art and antiques that play witness to the city’s history.
