Instead of an unemployment update, I'll do a stimulus update and cover what's in the new bipartisan Senate proposed stimulus bill. The new stimulus bill if passed would include a $300 unemployment boost. The new unemployment stimulus boost would not be retroactive to when the $300 LWA payments ended in September, instead the $300 unemployment boost would only be retroactive to December 1st and would last 4 months through March. There will not be a second stimulus check included in this proposed stimulus bill which is disappointing. There are not specific details if this bill would extend the expiration date of the PUA program - unemployment for the self employed or the PEUC extension.
It's important to note that a new stimulus bill has not passed, this is simply a proposed stimulus package. In order for us to actually see any money from this bill it would need to be voted on and pass in the republican controlled senate, be voted on and pass in the democratic controlled house and be signed into law by the president.
