How is a foam LARP sword made? Here's a glimpse behind the scenes of the process here at Calimacil in Sherbrooke, Quebec, making Iris, Olgierd's Sword, coming soon to our online boutique!

Olgierd is a very unique and dark character from the expansion of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, Heart of Stone. He wields a beautiful curved saber, Iris, named after his wife, which is possible for Geralt to acquire, if you make the right choices.

At Calimacil, we start the LARP sword making process using a fiberglass rod core, and next adding our specially engineered Calimacil Foam (that has no latex in it).

Every step is done by hand: from mixing, to pouring, finishing edges, and painting. We don't use injection foam--our team has to make their mixes extremely precise, and pour just so, otherwise the foam won't mold correctly.

We use special paints that can bend and flex with the foam, and add a special pre-coat that makes the blade more weather-proof.

We've developed this process over the last 15 years, to bring you the best looking and feeling LARP weapons in the world.
