This footage illustrates the outlines of UNESCO's "Revitalization of the Erbil Citadel" project. Conducted in partnership with the High Commission for Erbil Citadel Revitalization (HCECR), this two phase project consist in restoring a number of damaged buildings within the 8000 year old citadel, assist the HCECR through enhancing its managerial capacities and set a Conservation Master plan to help the Kurdistan Regional Government preserve the identity of this historical site for the sake of its inhabitants while adapting it to the global development scheme of the city. In further steps UNESCO is assisting the HCECR in preparing the Citadel file to be nominated for the World Heritage List.
