In the 2018 Margaret Hancock Lecture, Chizoba Imoka, a PhD student at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, discussed what it’s like to be a Black student in Canada based on her experience and research.
She is the founder of Unveiling Africa, an organization that encourages civic engagement, community service and political advocacy among African youth. In 2016, former Governor-General and U of T alumna Adrienne Clarkson presented Imoka with Massey College’s highest honour, the Clarkson Laureate in Public Service.
