(4 Dec 2020) 'DR. NO' WALTHER PP GUN SOLD AT AUCTION FOR $256,000
The Walther PP pistol carried by Sean Connery in the first James Bond film has sold for 256,000 U.S. dollars at auction.
The gun seen in 1962's "Dr. No" was the highlight of a 2,000-item four-day auction beginning Dec. 1 at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, California.
The iconic pistol was sold to an American Bond fan who wishes to remain anonymous.
Prior to the sale, Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien's Auctions, said he expected the handgun to sell for at least $150,000 to $200,000 but anticipated the item could fetch above that because of increased interest following Connery's death in October.
