For the past few weeks, we've seen the sad footage of the flood that has turned the streets into raging rivers. A few weeks ago in Arizona, flash floods swept a Toyota Prius, while devastating floods in Germany flooded Porsches at a dealership. These conditions make driving conditions extremely difficult.

To be clear, we do not recommend charging in floodwater unless you are driving a vehicle with a high-water penetration depth, such as the Land Rover Defender.

As we saw earlier, attempting to cross a flood with an unsuitable vehicle can be disastrous because floodwaters can cause severe damage to the under hood and cabin. But in China, it turned out that the best car to go through deep flooding is not an SUV but an electric Tesla Model 3 sedan.

A video of a Tesla Model 3 driving through a floodwater pool in Shanghai, China, has gone viral on social media. The micro-blog site, where the electric sedan can be seen diving into deep water and steering smoothly on the road, was posted by a Tesla fan page on Twitter.

People's cheers can be heard in the background as Tesla demonstrates his skills. In the video caption, "People cheering in the background: A Tesla, huh!" he is writing. Apparently moving towards a parking lot, the Tesla initially submerged due to the sloping surface of the road. The front is almost submerged.

Most people are probably aware that you should never drive most gas buggies in deep water; this can hydro-lock the engine - formally known as hydrostatic lock - not to mention a lot of other damage potentials as water is drawn into the inlet. A petrol car can be hydro-locked even if it is not running.

However, many people probably don't realize that electric cars tend to perform better in flood conditions. We shared many videos and stories where Tesla vehicles passed through the flood like boats. Even CEO Elon Musk has stated that Tesla will operate as a boat, at least temporarily.

Before continuing here, it is essential to note that crossing water is dangerous, and driving in deep water is extremely risky. However, if you end up in a dire situation, sometimes you have no choice. Please do not go out and test the seaworthiness of your Tesla.

A recent video shared on Twitter by Codebear shows a Tesla Model 3 going through a flood in China. As you can see, it seems to be doing just fine despite other nearby cars staying on the road.

Unfortunately, we don't have details about the condition of the Model 3 after the incident, but we can say that it worked properly when it was in deep water. The car is clearly running and working to propel itself quite nicely.
