Presenter: Heiko Küchler, Evident Industrial Territory Manager
Location: Germany
In this Evident Around the World video, Heiko Küchler demonstrates the improved detection capability offered by phase coherence imaging (PCI) for small flaws. PCI is an ultrasonic imaging technique available on the OmniScan X3 64 flaw detector, which is a variant of the total focusing method (TFM) that processes the phase data of received signals instead of the amplitude. Heiko uses a weld sample with high-temperature hydrogen attack damage as an example and compares the PCI results with conventional amplitude-based TFM results. In this short demo, Heiko also shows that performing a PCI inspection is easier because no amplitude-related adjustments are required.
