The second instalment of the Easter weekender in the lakes and a nice weather day and fixed brake lever resulted in a last minute change of plan. We were intending to head down to Glenridding but due to the late start decided to do a second ride from the Keswick area so on a sunny although windy day what better than to round the weekend off with the quintessential Ullock Pike
Busy climb up as the masses headed to the summit of Skiddaw for their easter homage of a high mountain to perhaps celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Anyway back to biking when we got to Lower Man the wind was really whipping up but didn't really hamper the riding although it was pretty noisy on the mic. At the top was pretty cold but once we got into the lee of the hill all was good except we were on the descent that I detest. Watch the edit to find how much I didn't ride 😆. Ullock Pike (and I must say this on every video of it) has to be the best descent in the lakes, I just wish I could clean it which has to be my goal, one day, one day, maybe 🤔. All going to plan until something happened on Ullock Pike that caused me to lose half my bottom jockey wheel but fortunately I was still able to pedal the bike albeit noisy with a jumpy chain similar to yesterday got round the planned loop again with a poorly bike
The return is pretty straight forward and my legs held up better than expected with 2 x 5,000ft days in the bag in and around the lakes big mountains, what's not to love ❤️
