In this episode, I take a close look at Mike Campbell's Broadcaster and its peculiarities. I also look at what amp and effects he used with the guitar to achieve the stellar tones on Don Henley's "Boys Of Summer." The guitar was extensively used on Tom Petty recordings through the years, and he still considers it his most valuable guitar.

Why did Fender call it the "Heartbreaker" and not a "Broadcaster?" Interestingly enough, Mike Campbell gave one of his signature Fender guitars to Kenny Vaughan, after he played on a Marty Stuart album that Mike produced.
We also discuss Tom Petty's "Red Dog" Telecaster, and Campbell's gold top Les Paul.
For Jerry Jones Guitars, we look at some plausible info pertaining to the lawsuit with Evets/Danelectro, and a different story of how Jerry got into building Silvertone inspired instruments.
On Jimmy Bryant, we discuss how he did not write "Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line." How Jim Alley offered him writing credit for playing on the demo for it. The song would be a big hit for Waylon Jennings and others. #askzac #guitartech #telecaster
