Mike Lindsay from Training 4 Safety talks about competency-based training and why would you want to choose that over other types of training out there, why should you choose it.
Competency-based training is about having specific training for you and your people that's tailor-made. It's fit for purpose and it's all about having a good outcome at the end, ultimately keeping people safe. It shouldn't be a tick box exercise that has got a whole lot of different items and we just tick them all off. It's what you need to keep you and your people safe.
Worldwide there is a big shift away from larger style learning into micro learning and into really compressed scenario-based, competency-based training.
From our research and training over a thousand people and engaging with many many different organisations here in New Zealand, have all found that there is so many positives around competency-based training. In our legislation there is no prescriptive need to carry out 'unit standard' training, there is recommendations but you can do competency-based training and meet all of your legislative requirements but you as the PCBU, must do your own homework and ensure any training whether it's from us or another organisation is fit for your individual business and also your people.
Competency-based training, we're really proud to offer it, Training 4 Safety.
