Today we'll be reviewing part number RR01-C; this is the Brophy Trailer D-ring light duty tie-down. It's going to provide us with a minimum breaking strength of 1200 pounds, and a safe working load capacity of 400 pounds. See here that it has a nice D-ring that will lay flush when not in use, so it's not going to take up any extra space. It does have the recessed area back here, so we'll look at that real quick, to see how far down it needs to be set, and how big a hole that we need to cut out. So, this recessed portion is going to measure about 3" at its widest point. more like 2 and 3/4", so a 3" hole is going to be ideal for that to sit in. You need to make sure that if I sit this flat where you can see it, it's going to set about 5/16" off of the smooth surface around it, so that hole needs to be at least that much in depth.
The D-ring internal dimensions, the internal space that we have, at its widest portion, is going to measure about 1 and 1/2", so that gives us plenty of room to get our hook in there and make our connection point. Overall, it's going to measure about 5" by 3 and 1/2", and it does have the pre-drilled bolt holes for an easy bolt on installation. From the center of the outermost holes is going to measure, center to center, 4". From the center of the middle hole to the center of either outer hole is going to measure right on 2". The mounting holes are all identical, and they're going to provide us with a diameter of 5/16". So once we have everything installed, you'll need to purchase mounting hardware. That is not included; you'll need to purchase that separately.
Once you have it all installed and secured down, then you'll be ready to make your connection point and get on your way. That's going to complete our review of part number RR01-C; this is the Brophy Trailer D-ring light duty tie-down. .
