In 2017, the NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the World Bank and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, started work to develop the first comprehensive State Health Index in India. Taking into account various health parameters, the first edition of “Healthy States, Progressive India - Report on the Ranks of States and Union Territories”, was released in February 2018.
This Index is a composite score incorporating 23 indicators.
