*EXTENDED SCENE:* The Battle of the Pelennor Fields was the largest and most significant battle of the War of the Ring.
It was a fierce and pivotal fight in which the forces of Gondor and its ally Rohan fought valiantly to defend the city of Minas Tirith, from the massive army of the Dark Lord Sauron.
Led by the Witch-king of Angmar, also known as the Lord of the Nazgûl, this formidable army consisted of tens of thousands of orcs and their allies, the Easterlings and Haradrim, who brought with them the terrifying Mûmakil beasts.
Tolkien himself described the army as the greatest to _"issue from that vale since the days of Isildur's might, no host so fell and strong in arms had yet assailed the fords of Anduin; and yet it was but one and not the greatest of the hosts that Mordor now sent forth."_
This epic battle took place at the end of the Third Age in the Pelennor Fields, the townlands and fields that lay between Minas Tirith and the River Anduin.
