When we think about the future of work, the most common question is, “What is the future of work and what will it look like?”
I think we’re asking the wrong question.
The first thing we assume is that the future is something that happens to us. And the second thing we assume is that there's only one future that can happen.
So, instead of saying, "What is the future of work?" We instead need to ask, "What are the potential futures of work? And what do we need to do as organizations to build the future that we want to see happen?"
We have the ability to shape the future, but only if we do something about it. Be a part of something that you created instead of waiting for everything to happen to you. What are you doing to shape your future?
