AEGIS is a three year long research and innovation project with a total funding of 7,5 M€ from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement N°859992.
The AEGIS project, coordinated by SINTEF Ocean, proposes an inland waterway transport redesign using CEMT VI class barges along the large canals, and CEMT II/IV barges to transport trailers to urban areas. These feeder loops have the potential of moving large amounts of containers from road to the inland waterways.
