Principles of Modern Science were known to Indians since ancient times. In around 4000 - 2000 BC, an Indian Sage known by the name Rishi Agatsya, in his work "Agastya Samhita", described a method to make electric battery, which resembled the modern one invented much later in the 18th Century. The ancient text of Agastya Samhita, not only describes the method of making electric battery (and producing electricity - known as Mitra Varuna) , but it also mentions the process of electroplating and splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen.
