Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a condition characterized by the formation of a blood clot (thrombus) within a deep vein, most commonly in the legs. It is a significant concern in the surgical setting due to its potential complications, particularly the risk of pulmonary embolism (PE), which can be life-threatening.
