The ESR Geo Wallet is the world’s first MagSafe wallet with Apple Find My certification…and unlike Apple’s MagSafe Wallet, it remains trackable after detaching from your iPhone. It’s also got much stronger magnets than Apple’s Wallet and it comes with a sturdy adjustable stand that can be used in either portrait or landscape orientation. There is even a finger loop for additional security in the hand.

The Find My functionality of the Geo Wallet differs from the Apple MagSafe Wallet’s Find My because it is powered by Bluetooth, as opposed to NFC. When the Apple Wallet is detached from your iPhone, it will report the location where that happened. However, it will never update that information, so if it is subsequently moved after being detached, the Find My location won’t reflect that. Because the Geo Wallet uses Bluetooth, it can continue to report its location after being detached from the iPhone…a huge advantage if you are trying to find a lost or stolen wallet. The Bluetooth functionality means that charging is necessary periodically, but fortunately this is only required every 3 months or so, and ESR includes the necessary charging cable. Unfortunately, due to the fact that Apple does not allow third party products to use Ultra Wideband, the Geo Wallet will only be able to report the general area that it is in (for example, a house), as opposed to the greater specificity that UWB provides (such as the particular room and piece of furniture in that room where the item is located). The Geo Wallet does have the ability to play an alert sound, however, so that can definitely help you find it.
Capacity wise, the Geo Wallet features a 1 to 3 card capacity…the same as the Apple MagSafe Wallet. Like Apple’s Wallet, it is able to securely hold 1, 2 or 3 cards thanks to its internal spring mechanism. But unlike Apple’s Wallet, you can remove the cards from the Geo Wallet while it is still attached to your iPhone.
Downsides of the Geo Wallet are its size and weight. It is significantly larger and heavier than Apple’s MagSafe Wallet. It also needs to be charged 4 times per year…a step which is unnecessary with Apple’s MagSafe Wallet. However, the enhanced Find My functionality, high quality adjustable stand, excellent magnets and bonus finger loop may completely offset these factors for many people. Definitely a product to consider if you are in the market for an extra secure MagSafe Wallet.
The ESR Geo Wallet is currently available via Kickstarter. The early bird price is $31 … the regular price will be $39. Many thanks to ESR for sending me out this sample to review. Please check out the affiliate link below if you are interested in learning more about the Geo Wallet!
