A woman sub-inspector was crushed to death in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi when she tried to stop cattle smugglers during a vehicle check exercise in the wee hours of Wednesday. Sub-inspector Sandhya Topno was posted as in-charge of Tupudana outpost in Ranchi. Police said they had information that a pick-up vehicle carrying cattle had started from Odisha and would be passing through Ranchi. The vehicle had managed to dodge patrol teams at two other places before they reached the Jharkhand capital. When the van reached Ranchi's Tupudana area, sub-inspector Sandhya Topno signalled the vehicle to stop. However, the vehicle didn't stop, instead ran over the lady cop and sped away. The incident comes just a day after a DSP rank officer was killed in Haryana by sand mafias. Watch this report for more details.
