This might sound crazy, but getting cut from your basketball team can actually be a great thing. Maybe it is the wakeup call you need to work harder so it doesn’t happen again. I’m sure you’ve all heard the Michael Jordan story about not making his varsity team. Getting cut could also help you realize that the effort you would have to put in to make the next team isn’t worth it, and basketball isn’t for you.

Both of these can be really productive in clarifying your aspirations. But hopefully most of you do want to have success at basketball tryouts, so let me know in the comments what you think your chances of making the team are for this winter!
