The normal life remained affected in the Kashmir valley on Monday due to a shutdown called by separatists against the killing of a civilians in South Kashmir's Kulgam District.
Three local militants and seven civillians were killied in laroo village of kulgam district.
Many parts of valley witnessed clashes on sunday, after the killing of seven civillians near encounter site,however the authorities have imposed strict restrictions in the old city and some other areas to maintain peace. While a security official said people went near the encounter site for "searching of Weapons",possibly some explosive left by militants went off while people were digging there,leading to the killing of the civillians,Asked about claims by the people that explosion took place beneath the verenda of the house,Official said it is a matter of investigation but the blast took place from rare not beneath veranda.
The call for the shutdown against the civilian killings has been given by the joint resistance leadership (JRL), an amalgam of separatists comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
The shops, business establishments and educational institutions remain closed in Srinagar. The public transport was off roads.The train services from Banihal to Baramulla also to remain suspended.
Reports of shutdown were received from other district headquarters in the Valley. There was no report of any untoward incident from any part of the Valley so far.
