Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
If you’ve watched more of my Draw Tip Tuesday videos, you’ve seen this tool before. It’s a water brush. I got some requests to explain what exactly this is.
I often use a water brush when I am drawing on location. It’s a very handy tool because it basically replaces your jar of water and your brush. So all you need to bring is a small watercolor box to start painting.
The handle of the water brush is a container that you fill with water.
Then, when you squeeze it a little, the brush is fed with water. So when you dip it into your paint and you’re ready to bring some colour to your page!
Here’s a tip: see that small watercolor box I am using? I found it in a toy shop, took out the cheap, dry watercolors and filled the wells with watercolor paint from tubes. It is very compact, and along with the water brush it’s fantastic for traveling and location drawing.
You can get water brushes from many brands. You can buy them online so the best way to find a water brush, is to simply google it. Whether you’re using a jar of water and a brush, or you find yourself a water brush, you can make awesome art.
