(11 Dec 2016) Crimeans remembered on Sunday those who were killed 75 years ago when the Nazi German army executed thousands of Crimean Jews.
People gathered at a mass grave outside the Crimean capital Simferopol to lay flowers.
Among them was Sergei Aksyonov, the head of the Crimean Republic.
Accompanied by representatives of the local Jewish community, he laid flowers and the foundation stone for a future memorial.
Local rabbi, Aron Gurevich, who read a pray at the memorial service, said the area was home to one of the biggest mass graves.
It's estimated that more than 15,000 people were killed outside the Crimean capital in December 1941.
