The #Låtefossen twin waterfalls located in #Oddadalen near RV13. The waterfall is 165 meters high. Låtefossen is being fed by the river Austdølo and several lakes on the #Hardangervidda. The spray showers the road, while the river flows on under the old stone-vault bridge.
Be sure that your windows are closed. In the summertime, Låtefossen is extremely powerful and cars get a good shower. Next to the waterfall, there is a parking lot that can be crowded in the summertime.
The Låtefoss bridge was finished in 1859 but was rather narrow. As the 20th century progressed, the number of cars and the size of the vehicles increased. The bridge was no longer adequate and during the mid-1940s, the bridge was expanded by about 2 meters towards the Opo river, making the road over 6 meters wide. The part that tourists and photographs see today is a newer extension, not the one that was built in 1859/1860.
