In this interview, Travis talks with Mike Coble, Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the Center for Human Identification at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike has attended ISHI since 1998 and has been sharing his knowledge on probabilistic genotyping and statistics with attendees as a presenter.

In this video, Mike describes how statistics and likelihood ratios are used in forensic DNA in regards to mixture samples (where two or more people contribute their DNA). Likelihood Ratios are used to determine whether or not a suspect contributed to the mixture. Statistics can be tricky to understand, so it is important that forensic scientists attend trainings such as the workshops Mike presents at ISHI so that they are able to explain the evidence to jury members.

Mike also discusses how he has participated in admissibility hearings, his favorite part of ISHI, and his favorite Disney character.
