Spain’s re-elected prime minister has named a government with more women than men.
12 out of 22 members in socialist prime minister Pedro Sánchez’s cabinet are women.
Women now lead the ministries of economy, energy, health, defense, equality, children and youth, education and more.
This is not the first time Spain has had a women-majority cabinet, with Sanchez appointing more women than men in 2018.
Before him, former socialist prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero also named more women than men in 2008.
There are only 13 countries around the world where women hold more than 50% of cabinet roles, according to UN Women.
