Common abbreviations used for these conditions include VCD (vocal cord dysfunction) and PVCD (paradoxical vocal cord dysfunction). These terms are use interchangeably. Laryngospasm is just the most severe case of VCD or PVCD typically characterized by stridor on inhalation. Otherwise VCD and PVCD is characterized by wheezing from the neck region on inhalation
