Live action from RAF Coningsby 18/10/22 - Morning Action

Mass Takeoffs from the morning including three performance takeoffs and two synchronised (dual) takeoffs! One of the pairs landed together too. There were also 2 visiting aircraft, one being from the German Air Force.

Live from RAF Coningsby, home to two front-line combat ready squadrons, 29 Squadron OCU, the BBMF and it is the QRA Station of the south. Being a QRA (Quick Reaction Alert) means that the base is never closed, it is on standby, ready to scramble instantly to intercept any aircraft 24/7, 365 days a year.

RAF Coningsby opened in 1941, serving as an RAF Bomber Command station until the early 1960s. Coningsby has been a fighter station since the Phantom arrived in the late 1960s, followed by the Tornado and now the Typhoon. In 1976, Coningsby became home to the world-famous RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The station has also been home to 617 Squadron and a base for the Vulcan Bomber.
