How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Yakima Skinny Warrior on top of our 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition. Now, when it comes to your Subaru, I'm sure you're aware by now that you don't have a lot of cargo area in the trunk area, so this is going to allow you to take advantage of the negative space on top of your car to get those bigger, bulkier items on the road with you. The thing that's special about the Skinny Warrior is the fact that it's so narrow, so it allows you to have the whole other half of your roof for other accessories. So let's take a closer look at the Skinny Warrior. The Skinny Warrior has an included plastic faring and what the faring does for you, it's gonna help basically cut down on the wind drag and the, which translates in the wind noise. I mean, anything you put on your rooftop is gonna make noise.
It's just the nature of the beast. However, that's gonna help reduce it somewhat. The entire construction of the carrier itself is black stainless. So with that stainless, that black powder coat on top of your stainless is gonna do, it's gonna hold up against the abuse of being out there on the road and within the elements. Now, this Skinny Warrior here, this is one that's been in our studio for a while, and we borrow it when we go on our own adventures and we use it a lot.
And you can see that it holds up pretty well even though you have those little scuffs and scratches. So when you see scratches like that in your powder coat, if the metal's not treated like the Skinny Warrior, it'll start flaking off over time. And because Yakima pretreats the steel, it holds on pretty well. And then you can see along the side, you have all these bars that work great for different tie down points. The Skinny Warrior is secured using a clamp style bracket.
You're can have knobs on each one of your brackets that's gonna secure the threaded bolt onto the top of your roof rack. So the bars I have on here now are the Yakima Timberline Towers. However, if they were gonna work with just about any type of bars, if they're factory from from Subaru, or if they're round or square, the Skinny Warriors designed to work with most types of crossbars. Our dimensions on our carrier is 53 inches by 21 inches wide. So that's gonna give you plenty of space to open your cargo area without running into contact with your hatch.
However, if you were wanting a longer carrier, you can add the extension part for the Skinny Warrior for those longer items. The thing that makes the Skinny Warrior a great option for your Subaru is the fact that it gives you flexibility. It allows you to get those bigger things on your roof without taking up that whole space. So it leaves room for other items that you may wanna bring along with you. You can enhance your experience with this carrier by adding on the Yakima net for the cargo basket to try to keep everything contained on the inside, and you can add an additional security by adding a lockable clamps. But overall, I think the Skinny Warrior is a great option, it's really a real unique solution to get all your gear out on the road with you. So again, this is Ed with etrailer.com taking a look at the Yakima Skinny Warrior on our 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Have a great day.
