Welcome to another episode of Sports Encyclopedia Series where you can learn about every single game that has ever existed on planet Earth.
Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about Australian Football.
Australian rules football, also known as Aussie rules, Footy or AFL.
The objective of players is to score as many points as possible for their team.
Australian Football is played in an oval-shaped field with an oval-shaped ball for a set duration of 80 minutes in four quarters.
Aussie rules is played between two teams of 18 players each.
On each side of the field, there are two pairs of posts.
The inner pair is called the goalposts, and the outer pair is called the behind posts.
In Australian Football Players can score points in one of the following ways.
Goal: A goal is when the player kicks the ball through the goal post which is awarded six points.
Behind: A behind is when the ball goes through the space between the goal post and the behind post which is given one point.
At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins the game.
